Liceo Scientifico “N. Sensale“, with about 1,000 pupils and 70 teachers, is attended by boys and girls coming from families with different socio-economic backgrounds. In recent years a growing presence of students with different cultural tradition and upbringing has been playing a crucial role in improving the quality of the cultural heritage of our school community.
The educational offer of our school, deeply rooted within the urban territory where it has been for over thirty years, has been exerting a strong influence on the cultural and professional preparation of the students.
Furthermore, by establishing an interchangeable cooperation with its territory, it aims at both providing young people with effective education and actively taking part in the sustainable development of the community who welcomes and feeds it, making it possible for the students to easily enter universities and the job world.
Hence the educational offer of our institute is based on a few important elements: the integration within the territory; technological innovation; innovative, experimental teaching; European citizenship and intercultural dialogue.
Our school houses three courses of study:
“Liceo Scientifico“ (traditional) which explores the link between Science and Humanistic Tradition, promoting the acquisition of the knowledge and the methods of Mathematics and Experimental Sciences. It provides students with the knowledge, the skills required to develop scientific and technological research and discover the interactions between the different forms of knowledge.
The Applied Science Option that provides highly advanced skills in studies relating to the scientific and technological culture.
The Sports Option that focuses its attention on Sports Sciences and Sports Subjects within a cultural framework that promotes, in particular, the knowledge of the methods of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, Economics and Law.
In conclusion, our school, in a systemic view, is traditionally open to collaboration with the territory, in order to carry out specific educational projects with the University Departments, Libraries, the Town Council, the Province offices, The Local Health Authority, with other schools, with Cultural Associations and Organizations.
